About Us

A unique venture, Flies For Fish is Bob Lindquist’s attempt to pay forward the wonders that flyfishing has brought to his life.  From the very best friends, men with immense character, met through flyfishing to the breathtaking and beautiful locations where fish thrive to skills that catch, Flies For Fish brings to you the lessons learned from fish and friends alike.  Flies For Fish is not about trying to turn a profit, but instead is about trying to give out a whole lot of good in an all too often polluted world.

Bob Lindquist is a self - confessed fly fishing fool.  He has waded the waters of Long Island with feathered frauds in search of finned friends for over forty years.  Bob has fished the Delaware River system, the waters around Albany and a select few locations in New England for another three decades.  He built his retirement home on the banks of the Main Stem of the Delaware in Callicoon, New York.  In addition, Bob has a blossoming passion for both Atlantic Salmon and Steelhead.  Bob has been or is a member of the Whiting Feathers Pro Staff, Gamakatsu and Solarez.  He has worked with numerous other companies.

Bob uses his training in mathematics, physics, philosophy and education to form an analytic approach to fly fishing.  His work has lead to articles in Fly Tyer, Salt Water Fly Fishing, Fly Fisherman and Japanese Fly Fisherman magazines.  Bob’s fly patterns have been features in numerous websites.  He is a recognized fly tyer who has appeared at many shows including those held in Danbury, Somerset, Edison, College Park, Timonium, Lancaster and Marlborough.  Recently, Bob has added a passion for photography to his fly fishing and tying addiction.  As a retired teacher and coach, Bob uses his public speaking skills to give presentations to clubs throughout the Mid Atlantic and North East regions.

Flies For Fish features articles about places, products, skills and flies.  Proven, productive fly patterns are listed and techniques to them taught.  Videos are continually added.  A blog discussing all things flyfishing related can be found.  I love to hunt transcendent flyfising moments with a camera, so you will find a page of flyfishing images.  Lastly, I am asked often to speak to Trout Unlimited and other flyfishing related clubs.  Many clubs search for speakers, so a page detailing my available presentations is included.

So as you would cast your line upon the water, cast your eyes upon the content.  It is my sincere hope all of the positives of flyfishing found on this site might help your life as it as mine.
